DATE NIGHT OUTFIT INSPO ON VALENTINE’S DAY AND BEYOND

For those of us quarantining with our S.O., it’s starting to feel like every night is date night… for better or for worse. When you spend every day with the same person, it takes a bit more effort to plan something special. Similarly, those of us who are playing the field are navigating a totally different dating scene, that at times may feel like it’s missing that special spark. Anyone else miss the spontaneity of meeting up with your date for an after-work drink?

If you’re craving an excuse to revitalize date night, now is your moment, because the date night to end all date nights is upon us: Valentine’s Day. Whether you’re spending it with your long-time boyfriend or girlfriend, celebrating with someone new, or planning something with the girls, this is your excuse to do something special with someone you love. And one of our favorite ways to make something feel special — no matter the activity or destination — is to plan a great outfit, obviously.

Check out our Date Night Lookbook, and read on for some of our top outfit ideas to bring those date night looks to life!

ROMANTIC & FLIRTY ‘FITS

They say that style is one of the best ways to express yourself — who you are and how you’re feeling. So you can absolutely set a romantic tone with your outfit choices! Certain necklines, shapes and materials can convey the flirty vibe that both you and your date will love.

For example, there’s something undeniably timeless and romantic about a sweetheart neckline, making it one of our top choices for date night. Check out the Roman Sweetheart Tie Back Crop Top White, or the Aramis Square Neck Knit Top White, for a few options. These tops convey elegance while also giving you a little room to be playful, and can pair nicely with a range of bottoms, depending on what you’re feeling — whether you choose leather leggings, denim or a skirt.

If you want to get flirty with fabrics, find an outfit that features some lace, silk or satin. This could come in the form of a silky blouse like the V Whiz Top in Champagne, or a sleek skirt like the Ashton Satin Mini Skirt Almond. If you really want to go all-in, we love the look of combining satin with lace — the Maya Dress Sand is by far the best of both worlds!

STATEMENT STYLES TO DRESS THINGS UP

I don’t know about you, but as much as I love my loungewear, I have seriously missed getting dressed up during quarantine. These moments may be harder to come by than they once were, but that doesn’t mean we can’t create our own occasions and dress the part. Date night is absolutely a chance to go all-out (even if you’re staying in). So don’t be afraid to make a statement with your style!

One of our favorite ways to stand out? SPARKLES. If that sounds like you too, you’re going to want to check out a few of our current favorite pieces: the Starry Night Skirt Black, or the Sachi Tie Back Sequin Crop Top in Black or in Taupe.

For those going for a classic date night look, find a dress or jumpsuit that’ll make you (and your date) feel special. You can never go wrong with a little black dress, and it’s something you’re guaranteed to wear again. We love the Vienna Ruched Mini Dress, AND it’s on sale — just in time for V-Day!

If you want a dress that’s festive for your V-Day pinks, reds and purples, check out the Olivia Long Sleeve Mini Dress Fuchsia or the Paige Front Twist Mini Dress Mauve — also both on sale on our site and in stores, for a limited time!

DATE NIGHT DETAILS TO COMPLETE THE LOOK

No look is complete without accessories and details that tie everything together. Same goes for date night!

Jewelry is a must to tie your look together and add a little pop — whether you choose a statement earring, or a simple necklace with the option for layers. Now, time to think nails. Missing your manicure during COVID? Try an at-home acrylic nail set — considering options for more monochromatic nails, or fun nail patterns and designs if your outfit calls for color. And if you’re stepping out for the night, fun outerwear is non-negotiable to stay warm and stylish. Our favorite outerwear style this time of year is definitely a faux fur coat!

Finally, the most under-rated accessory that you simply can’t leave home without: your mask. Don’t think of this as an after thought — rather, an accessory to add and amplify your date night look! Choose a fun mask design like one in lace or rhinestones, and throw on a mask chain necklace to really make safety a style moment.

Remember babe — Valentine’s Day, and date night, shouldn’t just be about love for someone else. Self-love is just as important. To that point, there’s something indescribable about the power of an outfit to make you feel your best, and really bring your self-love to life when you find the right one. So when you’re selecting styles for date night, go with what will make you feel good. If you do that, we guarantee that love will be in the air!
