D.I.Y. HALLOWEEN COSTUME IDEAS FOR BOO-TIQUE BABES

Spooky season is in full swing. And make no mistake - styles change with the seasons, and this season is no exception. The pinnacle fashion event of spooky season is, of course, Halloween. And there is nothing scarier than not having a costume ready a few days before Halloween.

But fear not, babe. No need to google the closest Party City or go for an off-the-shelf costume that’s lacking in style. We’re here to help with DIY Halloween costume ideas that will keep you looking stylish, and save you time so you can enjoy the season without worrying about your costume.

A NOT SO WICKED WITCH

You may be thinking, “a witch? isn’t that overdone?” but trust us, there are so many ways you can spice up this costume and turn it from basic to brilliant! Turn the mean old witch into a classy yet edgy HWIC: head-witch-in-charge.

Start with a sleek black dress or jumpsuit. Or, tap into other trending styles like leather leggings (one of our personal faves), which bring the drama but elevate your look to make it special. Once you have your black basics, grab a pair of black heels or booties to compliment the look. Top it off (LIT-erally) with a black hat and some dramatic makeup — maybe a smoky eye and sparkles. And because a mask is a must this year, try a starry black mask or one with sparkles to tie the mask into your witchy vibe.

These small pieces all come together to totally seal the look, and your costume will be breathtaking! The best part? All of the pieces of this costume can be re-worn long after spooky season has ended.

ANGEL VS. DEVIL

Some of us may see ourselves as angelic and sweet, while others may favor all things fierce and fiery. If you’re like us, you’re probably a mix of both. The good news is that you can have fun with either persona on Halloween, dressing as an angel of a devil. Good or evil? Which one will you be choosing this Halloween? These are some of the easiest looks to put together from items in your closet or down the street at your closest boutique, and they can be customized to show off your personal style. For a devil think RED, obviously. Red is hot (pun intended) for Fall, so your options for red tops, dresses, skirts and boots are endless right now. Red leather is also a great way to capture the vibe — both of the latest trends, and of your DIY devil — so personally, we’re going for red leather leggings for this year.

If you’re leaning toward the angel option, think white and ethereal. This can be such an elegant look and a chance to show your sweet side (while you enjoy Halloween sweets, of course). With a white dress, or matching set, this will come together perfectly. We suggest finding a cheap pair of wings to pull this whole look together.

DISCO DIVA

Break out the bell bottoms because your DIY disco diva costume is guaranteed to bring some serious Night Fever. This outfit can be so much fun to put together, and it definitely doesn’t hurt that bell bottoms and fun flare cuts are making a major come-back as a must-have item in your denim collection. Grab your favorite pair of flare jeans and pair them with a crochet top (one last chance to wear a summer style you may have packed away in your closet), or even a bright colored tank top. Or, tap into the tie dye trend that totally took off this year (thanks, quarantine) to make sure your look is an ode to the decades of disco. Platform shoes — especially white boots! — are another must-have to complete the look, and again, these kicks will be ones you’ll wear beyond just Halloween.

This costume is a great fit for those of us who like to live out loud, in bright color, and for those of us who are known for being the first on the dancefloor. Finally, we have a costume as bright and colorful as YOU!

GIRL GONE WILD (ANIMAL PRINT OUTFITS)

Animal print is so in and we cannot get enough — whether you’re obsessed with all things leopard or you’re stunning in snake print, this is a major trend that celebs and LIT babes alike are going wild for. And these pieces are PERFECT for Halloween.

Grab anything cheetah and leopard print for a fiercer, feline version of the go-to black cat costume. Your options are endless when it comes to tapping into this trend as a DIY costume, whether you opt for a cheetah or leopard print jacket, sweater, or skirt. Add a matching face mask to top it all off purr-fectly. And, if you have a few friends who are also in need of costume ideas, go the animal print route and recreate the Cheetah Girls.

Going the snake route is another great option, giving you the opportunity to be sleek and stylish. We are OBSESSED with these Commando faux leather snake leggings, which will make you and your costume stand out from the pack.

At the end of the day, Halloween is not unlike the other 364 days in a year: it’s a chance to show who you are through your style. So opting for a DIY costume, with trendy looks that show your style, is a great way to make sure YOU don’t get lost behind a basic costume.
