GLAMPING GETAWAY: TOP OUTFIT IDEAS AND DESTINATIONS
Anyone else feeling restless with wanderlust? Let’s be honest — for many of us, working from home was a nice change of pace when we first went into lockdown a few months ago… but the thrill is wearing off. And, even for those of you who have gone back to some semblance of your daily routine, I think it’s fair to say we could all use a change of scenery.
With the need to maintain physical distancing, camping — or better yet, glamping — is the perfect escape. Wondering what to wear and where to go? Don’t worry, we’ve got you covered.
LOOK GOOD FOR GLAMPING
We like to say that style is individuality lived out loud. The same applies whether you are in the city or in the wilderness. A good rule of thumb for glamping: functional, but make it fashion, and make it YOU. Here are three outfit ideas:
Trending on the trails. If you’re heading on a hike, go for an outfit that’s breathable but bold. Look for sets in complimentary colors or patterns to keep it interesting and eye-catching. Or, play around with the shape and aesthetic of your outfit with different cuts, lengths and fits — like a tight crop top with cutoff sweats. Whatever you do, grab some sunglasses so you can take in the view at the end of your hike.
Sweet styles for sightseeing. Whether you’re checking out a quintessential New England town near your glamp-site, or admiring the sights and sunsets, you’ll want some outfit options that are adventure-friendly but flirty and fun. Try pairing a bodysuit with distressed denim or a high-waisted jogger. Consider some fun finishing touches like a platform sneaker or sun hat to complete the look.
Cute and cozy by the glamp-fire. Be sure to bring some cozy layers to keep your look hot on cool nights. Play around with different pieces that show juxtaposition — for example, pairing an oversized sweatshirt with a biker short. Or, try out a set with colors and patterns that give you a chance to show your personality. Think comfortable, but that does not mean you need to settle for the same old sweats. Pro tip: when you get home, pair your sweatsuit with heels and some eye-catching accessories, and voila — you’ve got a fierce streetwear look.
OUR GO-TO GLAMPING SPOTS
One of the perks of being an East Coast-er is that we have so many amazing outdoor destinations in our backyard. Some ideas for your next adventure in New England and beyond:
Getaway House. You’ve probably seen these adorable, picturesque cabins on your Instagram feed. But for those who aren’t familiar, Getaway House offers minimalist, modern cabins in the heart of nature, outside of major cities across the US. The Getaway House experience is tailor-made for those of us who need to unplug from the hustle of modern city life. All you need to do is head to their site, let them know where you’re escaping from, and they’ll send you the address of a super-secret cabin. When you arrive, you have the option to lock away your phone and spend time with loved ones, surrounded by nature. I don’t know about you, but I feel relaxed already.
Glampsites in Maine. Maine is one of our favorite New England destinations, and it’s home to some great glampsites. Check out campgrounds like Sandy Pines in Kennebunkport. Whether you’re looking to get down-and-dirty in nature, or you prefer to emphasize the “glam” in “glamping,” they have tons of options for accommodations. And, as an added bonus, Kennebunkport is an adorable town for shopping, strolling and hitting the beach.
Get ready to gather ‘round the glamp-fire, babes. I’m calling dibs on the first s’more. Where are you heading for your next outdoor adventure?!
